fred on leno and rudy's 12 commitments...

Fred Dalton Thompson appeared on Leno tonight and did a pretty good job. He showed that there is someone else out there that sees government as most of us do. I liked his shtick about him not running for president since high school (like the others). He also made a comment many of us have made deriding the unneccesary length of campaigns these days. He truly never wanted or thought about being president. He is just the right person in the right place at the right time.

Fred has also launched his website recently. I like the concept. His campaign isn't going to be like any other. If you are interested you can visit imwithfred.com.

We're still waiting to hear if he is actually running...hah.

Rudy, on the other hand, is in full swing. He has listed out 12 commitments to the American people. I like most of them, alot. The only hole I can pinpoint is social security reform. But, since he support free-market solutions for most problems I am sure I will agree with any policy he may support for fixing social security.

Here they are:

1. I will keep America on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us.
2. I will end illegal immigration, secure our borders, and identify every non-citizen in our nation.
3. I will restore fiscal discipline and cut wasteful Washington spending.
4. I will cut taxes and reform the tax code.
5. I will impose accountability on Washington.
6. I will lead America towards energy independence.
7. I will give Americans more control over, and access to, healthcare with affordable and portable free-market solutions.
8. I will increase adoptions, decrease abortions, and protect the quality of life for our children.
9. I will reform the legal system and appoint strict constructionist judges.
10. I will ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.
11. I will provide access to a quality education to every child in America by giving real school choice to parents.
12. I will expand America’s involvement in the global economy and strengthen our reputation around the world.

essentials part 1: border security

I am going to post a series of articles that lay out what America needs for the next four years. These are basic changes, policies, and needs for America to be safe and prosper. They are in no particular order.

One glaring need is a secure border. The reasons for such a secure border range from obvious to subtle. But, they are countless in number.

The primary reason for a secure border is the safety of the United States. We need to know who is coming in and who is leaving. Proponents of immigration always seem to believe anti-illegal immigration folks do not want immigration at all. That is simply false. We only want the system to be orderly. There is a correct way that is fair, safe and legal. And there is an illegal way that perverts the struggles of our ancestors who followed the laws and struggled to make to America.

A second reason for border security reform is to ensure that illegal immigrants are not poaching on the tax dollars of hard working citizens and legal immigrants. The burden on infrastructure and health services by illegal immigrants is unfair and down right despicable.

A common argument for illegal immigrants by the left is that they do jobs that no Americans are willing to do. Well, as long as these lefties want welfare then that argument holds no substance. Are they saying that these folks on welfare are too good to do the work of illegal’s? I should hope not.

The president, congress, and people around the nation scratch their heads and put together amnesty programs for these cheaters. They all wonder how to deal with this problem. They say we can't hunt down the millions already in America. But, alas, we can hunt down business owners who are the impetus behind illegal immigration. The SOLUTION to this problem of our time is to throw the sorry bastards that hire illegal immigrants in prison. Fine the companies. Eventually it will be so difficult for an illegal to find a job that they will go back. Many potential illegal’s won’t even come in the first place anymore. After all it is better to work in Mexico making very little that to wonder the streets in America unsuccessfully looking for a job every day.

Will a bag of tomatoes cost a little bit more? Sure! But, I think that added cost is more than worth it for a safe, secure and orderly border…and a lower unemployment rate!

So, to secure the border America needs to 1) throw into prison any CEO or manager that runs a company employing illegal immigrants 2) fine any company that employs illegal aliens 3) build walls in high illegal areas 4) hire and train more border security agents and 4) do not throw into prison those agents that do their job (i.e. shooting at illegal’s that try to run them over or try to smuggle drugs)…reward them.
We need a president that will not give amnesty to cheaters. We need a president that will stand strong for the sanctity of the sovereign state. We need a president that has the spine to stand up for a common sense solution to a safe, secure and orderly southern border.

Disclaimer: If I was a Mexican citizen I would be running like hell for America. I do not blame them. We just need to make it an orderly system for legal immigration and an impossible system for those that do not follow the law.
